Voice control and Alexa are two capabilities at the forefront of the Internet of Things (IOT) marketspace. TiVo is exploring the idea of adding Alexa / far field voice capabilities as a way for customers to interact and control their TiVo whole home video entertainment system. We are looking for a passionate, hard-working, and talented engineer to help develop this feature. In this exciting project, you'll be working with TiVo engineers and product managers to investigate, define, and develop a TiVo Alexa skill and push the envelope of voice control on our products. Unlike some internship projects with fuzzy goals or unclear customer impact, the results of your work will lead directly to a market shippable product for TiVo customers around the globe and a demonstrable solution you can be proud of. The contract will last for between 3 and 6 months.
The candidate will write code, typically in java, to communicate to a web service. The candidate will need to be inquisitive and be a self-starter as they will need to experiment and as they integrate an Alexa echo device with a TiVo product. They will:
Install their test equipment, write, debug and test their code create new testcases, debug the scripts to ensure that they are robust.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: - Have successfully completed college level courses in Computer Science. - Plan to complete a degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field. - Demonstrable experience in Java, C++ or related object oriented programing language. - Comfortable with OOD concepts.
Passion for delivering great consumer experiences on technical products. Experience in Gradle, HTTP, AWS, and Alexa Skill Kit.
