WHAT’S UP: Vetjobs.com, the online job board endorsed by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, has become the first military-related site to receive a User’s Choice Award from WEDDLE’s, an international specialty publisher focusing on the human resources field. “We’re excited for the recognition. It’s quite a prestigious award,” said Ted Daywalt, president of Vetjobs.com. “This is the ultimate customer satisfaction survey, because recruiters and job seekers are the ones who vote.”
WHAT’S NEXT: Vetjobs is one of 30 job sites named for the 2004 awards, alongside such sites as Monster, HotJobs and CareerBuilder. WEDDLE’s publisher, Peter Weddle, said Vetjobs.com’s award also shows more human resources professionals are recognizing that veterans are valuable hires. Daywalt said at least 2,500 veterans found employment through Vetjobs.com in 2003, and he sees indications that the job market for veterans is heating up.
